The first Art Basel took place in 1970 and has since then developped to become one of the most important trade fairs for contemporary art. Every year in spring the who is who of art traders, artists, collectors and art lovers meet in Basel. But not everyone is allowed to exhibit on the fair - the galleries have to be pre-approved by a rigorous committee!
