Motorcycle tours through the Rheingau region

The Rheingau region is particularly appealing to motorcyclists as it offers winding roads, picturesque river valleys, medieval castles, palaces and monasteries as well as ample vineyards. Rüdesheim is the perfect place to go on an excursion along the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley, cross the Hunsrück mountains or discover the Rheingau region. 

Aar Valley and Wisper Valley

A challenging tour along 130 km.

If you are looking for a challenging drive through the Rheingau region, best start from Rüdesheim and drive to Oestrich-Winkel. From there, take the route to Bad Schwalbach via Nastätten, Rückershausen and Hohenstein Castle. Next, you will cross the deep and narrow Wisper Valley. Make a stop at the Schwarzenberg Castle Ruin or the biker’s club Wisperstube. Take the road via Presberg and Stephanshausen to return to Oestrich-Winkel or Rüdesheim.  Route length: approx. 130 kilometers. Check out a tour description including GPS data.

Rheingau and Nassau Nature Reserve

Winding along 203 km.

A similar tour that also starts in Oestrich-Winkel leads from Nastätten to Nassau Nature Reserve in the Rhenish Slate Mountains and ends close to Montabaur. From Montabaur, the drive leads back on winding and challenging roads alongside the river Rhine. The route has a length of approx. 203 kilometers. Check out a tour description including GPS data.

Rheingau & Taunus route

A tour with a view for 100 km.

Apart from the Rheingau region, you also get to explore the Taunus mountains on the 100 kilometer drive from Bad Nauheim to Assmannshausen. The route starts in Bad Nauheim and leads through the Upper Taunus Nature Reserve to Usingen. On the way, you will find winding, narrow roads and some sections that will allow you to build up speed. From Usingen, you can continue towards Wiesbaden via Taunusstein. Enjoy a magnificent view of the city at Platte Hunting Lodge. From there, take the route along the banks of the river Rhine to enter the Rheingau valley towards Rüdesheim. The next stop on the route is the Niederwald Monument, which offers a stunning view of the river Rhine and Rüdesheim. Route across the Hunsrück mountains to Morbach

Touristy mostly unexplored 85 km.

Take the route across the Hunsrück mountains, which are relatively untapped by tourists, from Bingen via Bretzenheim an der Nahe and Fischbach to Herrenstein. From there, continue towards Morbach where you can visit Baldenau and Hunolstein Castles. Another sight you should definitely add to your list is the railway viaduct in Hoxel, a district of Morbach. The German Timber-Frame Road (“Deutsche Fachwerkstraße”)

Unique landscapes and historic places along 176 km.

Part of the famous German Timber-Frame Road begins in Eltville located to the south of Rüdesheim. The tourist route is famous for leading visitors through unique landscapes, historic places and picturesque towns and villages. Travelling this part of the Timer-Frame Road by motorcycle provides an unforgettable experience. From Eltville, the route leads via Idstein and Bad Camberg to Limburg and onwards via Braunfels, Wetzlar and Herborn to Dillenburg. Route length: approx. 176 kilometers. Along the river Rhine to Koblenz

140 km through UNESCO World heritage.

If you are fond of driving directly alongside the river Rhine, take the Rhine Road (B42) and pass through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley in the direction of Koblenz. From Bingen, the route is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. During your trip, you have the chance to make a stop at the famous Lorelei rock, Gutenfels Castle or in Lahnstein. Koblenz, which lies at the junction of the rivers Rhine and Mosel, is not only worth a visit due to its unique location – it is also one of the oldest cities in Germany. On the way back, you can take the road on the other side of the river Rhine (B9) and pass the river in Bingen via ferry to Rüdesheim. Magic Bike Rüdesheim - THE Harley Davidson Festival.

You may have noticed that the Rheingau region is a true paradise for motorcycle fans. Every year at the end of May and beginning of June, hundreds of bikers come together to visit the Harley Davidson Festival “Magic Bike Rüdesheim”. During the festival weekend, the usually calm and picturesque city on the river Rhine gets turned upside down: everything is about the two-wheeled vehicles. Harley and motorcycle fans convene to take a drive together, visit concerts, bike shows and parades. For calmer entertainment, visit the BMW Motorcycle Museum in Weichsel.
