Shopping in Düsseldorf – high class luxury, young designers and urban treasures
Upscale Designer boutiques on KÖ, antiques in the old town and young fashion in Flingern – Düsseldorf is THE paradise for fashion and shopping!
Shopping in the city center
Shopping on KÖ (Königsallee)
Every famous and prestigious name in the fashion world is represented here. Armani, Bogner, Chanel, Hermés, Louis Vuitton, Joop, Prada, Porsche Design, Strenesse and many more. Not only fashion, but lifestyle, accessories, art, cosmetics and multi-media goods can also be found on this great street for shopping and a stroll. The twin activities of seeing and being seen also apply to the numerous top quality restaurants, bars and nightclubs around Düsseldorf’s KÖ. A glass of champagne is the order of the day here.
Shopping on Schadowstraße
A less pricy alternative to KÖ is the Schadowstraße. It’s the home of the Schadow Arcaden (a nice shopping mall), numerous department stores and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (theatre).
Shopping in the Old Town and Carlstadt
Together, the old town and neighbouring Carlstadt are a shopper’s paradise. Apart from a few large department stores, the range here tends to be small but perfectly formed. Fashion, art, design and especially antiques – in the alleyways of these two districts there's lots to discover! Browse to your heart’s content!
Yet more shopping!
Do you wish for more shopping recommendations? No Problem! Pay a visit to the neighborhood Flingern. On Ackerstraße you’ll find the stores of many promising designers from Düsseldorf, with individual and affordable fashion, for example at “Hausfreund Warenhaus” on Ackerstraße 106. Thanks to the high concentration of designers, Düsseldorf is also home to many second hand shops (for example Lieblingsstücke www.lieblingsstuecke.de).
Düsseldorf mustard in a stein pot can be bought from the spice girls at Düsseldorf’s Gewürzhaus (Old Town). Killepitsch (Dusseldorf herb liquor) can be bought from a small shop in the heart of the old town.
The flea market on Aachener Platz (Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm) is still a genuine junk market with some useful and some not so useful stuff.
For art lovers: there are over 100 art galleries in Düsseldorf. The quarterly Kunst- und Galeriekalender (art and gallery calendar) provides an overview.
Shopping for souvenirs
Classic souvenirs from Düsseldorf are for example the Düsseldorfer mustard in the stein jar, the herbal liquor “Killepitsch” or the iconic symbol, the cartwheeler, in numerous shapes.

Fashion Exhibitions, Designers, Fashion Schools
In addition, Düsseldorf has produced some very good designers of its own (Düsseldorfer Designer). Every year a whole host of new talent is discovered and fostered in the city’s fashion schools (Düsseldorfer Modeschulen).
