Get outside and experience Munich
Munich’s Olympic Park, which features a unique stadium, the Olympic Hall and offers great leisure and sports activities, is perfect for a family day. The whole family will have an unforgettable time at Munich’s Olympic Park: mini golf, boat rentals and inline skating are just a few examples for great family activities. At the Olympic Park, you will also find the Sea Life Center, which houses more than 4.500 different sea creatures, including sharks, turtles, colorful jellyfish and, of course, countless kinds of fish. By using the underwater glass tunnel which leads through a gigantic aquarium, you will be right at the center of action and experience an amazing underwater world first hand.
You will spend an amazing time at the Hellabrunn Zoo. The zoo is famous for making animal welfare its top priority as well as the cute baby animals that are born here throughout the year. In 2013, the Hellabrunn Zoo saw a world premiere: the birth of twin polar bear babies.
The zoo is aware of its responsibilities towards animals and offers a great selection of tourist attractions to visitors and kids in particular. Californian sea lions demonstrate astonishing tricks during the Flipper Parade. The Birds of Prey Show lets you experience breathtaking hunting scenarios. Toddlers will certainly enjoy the petting zoo, where they can feed the animals with special food. From April to October, you can watch baby chicks hatching every day. Poing Wildlife Park
At Poing Wildlife Park, everything is about native species. Stags, deer, birds of prey, lynxes, wolfs and even a bear family can be watched on 57 hectares of forest. Dive into everyday wild and forest live at the forest adventure center in Grünwald. Children and grown-ups will discover the forest will all their senses.
Munich for tech-enthusiasts
The German Museum is the world’s largest science and technology museum. Nearly 30,000 objects are waiting for you to discover them – you can even try out some of the exhibits. The museum’s Kids’ Kingdom, an exhibition specially designed for children from ages 3 to 8, lets children discover their everyday surroundings and invites them to actively engage with their environment. At the Museum of Man and Nature located in the Nymphenburg Castle, children can visit a creative workshop to experience and try out modern technologies. The BMW World has a lot to offer for families. Children and teenagers from ages 5 to 13 will enjoy a special program tailored to their needs on the Junior Campus, which extends on 460 square meters. Here they can explore the concept of sustainable mobility in a playful manner. Every last Sunday of the month is dedicated to families with reduced entry fees, free tours as well as changing workshops and programs that require active participation. Department for Education and Sports
The city of Munich’s Department for Education and Sports is a great opportunity to spend a unique day in the city. You can rent bouncing castles, mountain bike courses or an entire climbing tower. In Günzburg, a 90-minute drive from Munich, you will find Legoland. On an area of 140 hectares, a total of 55 million genuine LEGO bricks have been assembled to form a fascinating miniature world. The park also offers about 50 rides, workshops, shows and other attractions.
The Skyline Park located west of Munich represents a huge amusement park with rollercoasters, the famous “Sky Jet”, a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, log rides, giant slides and many more.
